The strong open
Start with a song that fits the room. A familiar cover or a short original with a hook works better than a long intro. You earn the room in the first 30 seconds.
The slow build
If your set is 30 minutes or longer, build from medium to high, drop once in the middle, then rise again. Two slow songs back to back kills momentum in a short slot.
The story sandwich
Put your most personal or emotional song in the middle. Place an upbeat number right before it and a lighter one right after. That shape protects the mood.
The quick closer
End on something people can clap or sing along to. Save your most complex song for the middle. Closers work best when the room knows when to join.
